Initiative Results

Since 2003, Posigraf (Grupo Positivo), HSBC, JTI, and Arteris are some of the companies that have adopted areas through Avoided Deforestation. The Program has been contributing to the conservation of the last well-preserved remnants of the Araucaria Forest and Natural Fields in Southern Brazil.

33 properties have been adopted, totaling over 4,500 hectares protected. 12 Private Natural Heritage Reserves (RPPN) have been created. With the monitoring of the properties, the Program’s technicians guide the owners on the best practices for caring for and managing natural areas, ensuring a permanent commitment to nature conservation.

Due to its importance, the Program was recognized as one of the bases for the approval of the PSA (Payment for Environmental Services) law in ParanĂĄ and is aligned with public authority objectives in establishing strategies and incentives for biodiversity conservation and recovery to contribute to climate change mitigation and adaptation.

The Program also works to integrate political mobilization for voluntary conservation. To achieve this goal, it organizes meetings and gatherings between private reserve owners and Public Authority representatives, encouraging dialogue and interaction of actions.
